EastEuro Link hosted its inaugural Wind Power Forum in Poland on 4th July 2008, with participants and speakers from all over Europe in attendance. Taking place in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Warsaw, the event was supported by a host of associate sponsors and media partners involved in the sector.

Proceedings were opened by the chairman, Clifford J. Aron, President of GreenMax Capital Advisors. Mr. Aron provided a useful overview of the Europe's energy challenges and future outlook. This was followed by thorough outline on the Strategies for meeting the challenges of the ambitious EU targets by Mr. Karol Lasocki of Chadbourne & Parke LLP who also presented current solutions in supporting development of the wind projects in Poland as well as the possible ways of overcoming legal barriers to development of the wind power generation. The next speaker to take the stand was Maciej Stryjecki, Managing Director of S Konsulting, PIGEO who delivered a highly informative presentation on the environmental risk assessment in the choice of the localization of a wind farm.

After a lively networking coffee break that also enabled delegates to establish new useful business contacts, the next session commenced with a forecast of the hotsposts for investments by Mr. Shane Woodroffe, Partner, EnerCap Capital Partners. He said that there was over 27GW of wind energy potential in Central and Eastern Europe and that The CEE region needed to increase their production of renewable energy by up to 200% but also that the economies, exchange rates and the interest rates of the CEE region had a large impact on wind project economics. This was followed by a very interesting analysis on wind farm financing from the investor's perspective given by Mr. Laurent Magnier of Theolia.

To conclude the panel on financing wind power projects, Mr. Duncan Sinclair, Director of Redpoint Energy, spoke about the impact of different renewables support schemes on wholesale energy markets. The panellists provoked live discussion among the audience that continued during the networking lunch break.

The afternoon session turned our attention towards regional case studies with a special focus on Poland, Turkey and Ukraine. Mr. Michal Lubieniecki, Head of the European Investment Bank Warsaw Office spoke about EIB presence in the CEE region, especially in Poland and the bank's activities in wind power financing. Wind Energy projects accounted for 36% of EIB's renewable energy financing in 2007 and windpower is a key strategic priority for the Bank.

Mr. Clifford J. Aron captivated the audience attention with a tale on three markets without feed in tariffs - Poland, Ukraine and Turkey. He examined in details the situation at these markets, challenges, obstacles and opportunities.

Following the networking afternoon coffee break, the final session gave a comprehensive guide to the potential of offshore and on-shore wind farms through the presentations of Mr. Robert Trzaskowski, CEO of Gestamp Eolica Polska and Mr. Stefan Ivanell of Gotland University. Mr. Trzaskowski spoke about the barriers in setting up wind turbines examining spatial planning and grid limitations, organisational and environmental conditions, turbine supplies constrains and business risks. Mr. Ivanell presented Wind turbine wake interaction in large wind farms to conclude the official part of this one day forum.

After a highly informative day for everyone, the chairman closed conference by summarising the wide range of ideas and discussions that had taken place throughout the day. The delegates were then free to engage in additional networking opportunities at the cocktail reception and continue numerous discussions opened during the conference panels.

Overall, the conference was a great success and brought together a number of influential players in the industry to engage in numerous discussions and listen to some excellent insights into the sector.

EastEuro Link thanks all delegates and speakers who attending the event and hopes to see many of the same faces at its upcoming energy conferences.

We look forward to our future cooperation!
