2008 was a challenging and often troublesome year for the Real Estate Industry world-wide. Global economic activity deteriorated sharply in the final months of the year as the US economy dived into recession, pulling other economies in its wake.

Real Estate markets in Southern and Eastern Europe (SEE) were affected heavily by this economic slowdown, and are currently experiencing a crucial period of change whilst rapidly re-assessing both long and short term investment strategy.

2009 promises to be a difficult 12 months for SEE Real Estate professionals, however some signs of stabilisation in European economic activity is expected towards the end of this year and the early months of next, thanks largely to very low policy interest rates and fiscal spending in the region.
